Electrical Power Architect

Location: Centennial, Colorado, United States. The role involves hands-on work on the test floor and field commissioning. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations under ITAR and EAR.

Salary: $139,200–$187,050 for P4 level roles, typically requiring 10–15 years of experience; $152,500–$205,000 for P5 level roles, typically requiring 15+ years of experience.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end design of the 13.8kV medium-voltage system from architecture and single-line diagrams through energization, endurance testing, and field commissioning.
• Define the protection philosophy, concept of operations, switchgear requirements, and generator circuit breaker specifications and sourcing.
• Produce protection coordination studies, relay settings, and medium-voltage electrical drawings.
• Own generation, distribution, protection, grounding, metering, sensing, and optional grid-interconnect interfaces.
• Lead generator excitation and voltage regulation interfaces with turbine controls, synchronization, load acceptance, and step-load testing.
• Coordinate with mechanical, controls, and instrumentation teams to deliver a reliable islanded power system.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience with medium-voltage systems, including switchgear, breakers, protective relaying, grounding, and generator integration in industrial or power-generation environments.
• Strong understanding of rotating machinery, generator behavior, excitation, AVR systems, synchronization, and transient response.
• Experience owning protection coordination work, including relay selection, settings, differential protection, and overcurrent schemes, from study through commissioning.
• Ability to read and produce buildable medium-voltage electrical drawings, including one-lines, wire diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Typically 10–15+ years of relevant experience, corresponding to P4 or P5 level.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR and EAR eligibility requirements.
