Electrical Engineer (Medium Voltage)

Location: Centennial, Colorado, United States. The role supports on-site design, testing, first energization, and field commissioning. Applicants must satisfy U.S. ITAR/EAR eligibility requirements.

Base salary: $107,000–$144,000 for P2, $124,800–$167,700 for P3, or $139,200–$187,050 for P4. A sign-on bonus of up to $100,000 is mentioned.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end design of the 13.8kV medium-voltage system from architecture through energization, endurance testing, and field commissioning.
• Define MV architecture, single-line diagrams, protection philosophy, operating concepts, and specifications for switchgear and generator circuit breakers.
• Perform protection coordination studies, select and configure relays, produce settings, and develop buildable MV electrical drawings.
• Own generation, distribution, grounding, protection, metering, sensing, and optional grid-interconnect interfaces.
• Lead generator excitation and voltage-regulation integration, synchronization, load acceptance, relay commissioning, and step-load testing.
• Coordinate fault-current, interrupting-duty, arc-flash, interlock, and electrical-safety analyses.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with medium-voltage switchgear, breakers, protective relaying, grounding, and generator integration in industrial or power-generation environments.
• Strong understanding of rotating machinery, generator behavior, excitation, AVR systems, synchronization, and transient response.
• Experience owning protection coordination work, including relay selection, settings, differential schemes, and overcurrent schemes.
• Ability to read and produce one-line diagrams, wire diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Ability to collaborate across mechanical, controls, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR/EAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.
