TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Structures) (Aerospace): Building and scaling manufacturing processes for composite structures, machined metallic components, and bonded assemblies for reentry capsules and spacecraft with an accent on structural assembly, tooling, process documentation, and production quality. Focus on developing DFM feedback, investigating build defects, qualifying production tooling, and increasing structural assembly throughput.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses, with vehicles and equipment built, integrated, and tested in-house.

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing processes for composite structures, machined metallic components, and bonded assemblies.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, process specifications, and manufacturing travelers for structural build operations.
  • Provide design-for-manufacturing feedback on composite parts, tooling access, bond joints, and fastener patterns.
  • Implement cleanliness, foreign object debris prevention, and contamination control procedures.
  • Lead non-conformance investigations and root-cause corrective actions for structural defects, material issues, dimensional discrepancies, tolerance stackups, and coating damage.
  • Define production tooling and improve structural subassembly work-cell layouts and material inspection processes to increase throughput.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience; typically 3–6+ years.
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing experience with structural assemblies, including riveted or welded structures, machined metals, composites, or bonded structures.
  • Experience assembling and fabricating structures through welding, adhesive bonding, or riveting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and structural assembly models.
  • Experience creating manufacturing process documentation and work instructions, diagnosing defects, and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Must be physically able to lift 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods while working with hardware. Must be a U.S. person authorized to access export-controlled technology and lawfully authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience with primary flight structures for launch vehicles, satellites, or reentry systems.
  • Knowledge of dynamic and vibrational loads analysis and aerospace materials such as aluminum alloys, titanium, and steel.
  • Experience transitioning structural assemblies from R&D or prototypes to rate production, including tooling qualification.
  • Experience with CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX for tooling design and assembly model review.
  • Familiarity with first article inspection and FAIR documentation, or experience at a new-space or defense prime.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive flexible PTO, 12 paid holidays, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Benefits include FSA and employer-matched HSA options, wellness reimbursement, parental leave, family-building support, and One Medical memberships.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match and substantial incentive equity.
  • Relocation support may be available for new hires.
  • Daily lunch, twice-weekly dinner, team events, mission-success celebrations, and complimentary EV charging are provided.
