Associate Director, OPEX (Manufacturing): Leading operational excellence and continuous improvement across manufacturing, supply chain, and support functions with an accent on Lean, Six Sigma, productivity, quality, and cost optimization. Focus on developing site strategy, driving digital transformation, managing performance and financial portfolios, and coaching cross-functional teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Location: Marion, North Carolina, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $152,000–$209,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute the site’s Operational Excellence strategy in alignment with global business priorities.
  • Lead Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and digital transformation initiatives across manufacturing, supply chain, and support functions.
  • Improve productivity, quality, capacity, process reliability, equipment effectiveness, and workflow efficiency through waste elimination and process redesign.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, governance routines, performance reviews, and project portfolio tracking.
  • Manage productivity and cost optimization initiatives, financial business cases, savings validation, and return on investment.
  • Build, coach, and mentor Operational Excellence teams while supporting leadership development and employee engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering or science; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, supply chain, project management, Operational Excellence, or quality.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Lean or continuous improvement role and 5 years in people leadership are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and other improvement tools, with detailed manufacturing operations experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Nice to have

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, aseptic manufacturing, or comparable regulated environments.
  • Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification.
