Senior Spacecraft Avionics Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $169,000–$216,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Define avionics project scopes and requirements with cross-functional engineering teams, guiding designs from concept through production.
• Develop electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets covering power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass.
• Analyze system faults and risks, create mitigation plans, and support FDIR and operational workarounds.
• Plan and conduct avionics verification on flight and hardware-in-the-loop systems for launch, space, and reentry operations.
• Oversee vehicle avionics integration, investigate integrated-system issues, and participate in mission operations.
• Design and operate HITL testbeds and avionics ground infrastructure while improving test automation and mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming and debugging.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and general test equipment.
• Must work on-site in El Segundo, California, and meet U.S. person requirements for access to export-controlled technology.
• Must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience taking vehicle electrical systems from concept through operational production.
• Experience establishing HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and performing system-level tests.
• Familiarity with Unix environments and command-line utilities.
• Experience developing test cases and equipment for vehicle operating conditions.
• Strong project or program management skills.
