Avionics Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite role

Base salary: $105,000–$165,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design circuits and printed circuit boards for spacecraft subsystems.
• Characterize, test, and validate hardware systems across the spacecraft.
• Architect, design, and execute satellite avionics solutions within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Own the full lifecycle of avionics hardware designs.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, or an equivalent technical degree.
• At least 2 years of experience in PCB or hardware design.
• Hands-on ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
• Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit design skills.
• Experience debugging circuits alongside embedded software, from oscilloscope measurements through firmware.
• US citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required due to US Government space technology export regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with FPGAs, microcontrollers, and communication protocols including RS-485, SPI, Ethernet, or I2C.
• Experience with C, C++, or Python.
• Knowledge of radiation effects.
• Environmental testing experience.
