Cybersecurity Internship - Spring 2027 (Cybersecurity)

Location: Full-time, on-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Spring internships run between January and May, with dates dependent on the selected student's university schedule. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States for the full internship without visa sponsorship and must qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Hourly rate: $33.00. Housing stipend is available for interns relocating to the area, along with a commuter benefit.

What you will do

• Review daily security alerts, determine their significance, and document actions taken.
• Configure and improve security tools including Zscaler, CrowdStrike, ThreatLocker, Darktrace, and AlienVault.
• Maintain security event logs and organize sample logs as evidence for cybersecurity audits.
• Track reports from external security partners and upload compliance updates to the relevant software.
• Own one end-to-end project, such as identifying logging gaps, refreshing an incident response guide, or creating a dashboard.
• Work with the cybersecurity analyst, InfoSec engineer, compliance manager, and external security partners.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related major.
• Coursework or self-directed learning in at least two areas including networking, operating systems, identity and access management, incident response, or security monitoring.
• Comfort reading logs and working with spreadsheet data; basic scripting knowledge.
• Clear technical writing, strong organization, attention to detail, and willingness to ask questions.
• Authorization to work in the United States for the full internship without visa sponsorship.
• U.S. person status required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Progress toward CompTIA Security+ or Network+ certification.
• Hands-on security tool experience through a home lab, school club, or capture-the-flag competition.
• Experience with Zscaler, CrowdStrike, ThreatLocker, Darktrace, AlienVault, Okta, or Vanta.
• Basic knowledge of NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, or CMMC.
• Basic scripting in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
