TL;DR
Software Development Engineer III (ECLSS and Crew Systems) (C/C++/Python, flight software): Developing and qualifying flight software for environmental control and life support systems and crew systems on a human-rated lunar lander with an accent on real-time embedded systems, verification, validation, and hardware/software integration. Focus on building autonomy and controls applications, supporting closed-loop simulations, defining interfaces and requirements, and validating software for safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Location: Greater Seattle Area. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.
Salary: $150,931–$211,303 for Colorado applicants; $164,652–$230,512 for Washington applicants. Other site ranges may differ.

Develops reusable space vehicles and systems, including lunar landers and infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo to the lunar surface.
What you will do
- Develop and qualify software applications for environmental control and life support systems.
- Lead formal validation and verification of ECLSS software.
- Support ECLSS model maturity, qualification, validation, and component testing.
- Represent flight software during hardware/software integration and ensure tests satisfy flight software requirements.
- Develop and verify additional crew systems for the human-rated lunar lander.
- Maintain requirements and support software architecture, interface definition, and design reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software development, verification, and validation.
- Proficiency in several of C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python.
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded software, and autonomy or controls flight software applications.
- Must satisfy U.S. export control eligibility requirements.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced new product development environment.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
- Knowledge of ECLSS or crew systems autonomy applications.
- Knowledge of DO-178C or NASA NPR 7150.2.
- Experience with integrated 6DoF or closed-loop autonomy simulations and Embedded Linux or equivalent real-time operating systems.
- Experience with board bring-up, hardware interfaces, and protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, and RS-485.
