Application Development Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: East Syracuse, New York, United States

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually, plus a target 10% profit-sharing bonus and 401(k) match up to 8%.

What you will do

• Develop QCM applications for semiconductor and display manufacturing equipment and process tools.
• Interpret sensor data to characterize, optimize, and troubleshoot semiconductor processes and equipment.
• Create custom integration solutions and advise field application engineers and customers on application best-known methods.
• Design and execute experiments, analyze findings, and quantify technical and business value including customer ROI.
• Troubleshoot hardware and product performance issues and monitor installed equipment through periodic audits.
• Collaborate with Sales, Support, Product Management, R&D, factory engineering, and customers on solution development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 5 or more years of commercial semiconductor manufacturing process or equipment engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with semiconductor process equipment in a fab, equipment supplier, research laboratory, or similar environment.
• Direct QCM experience is strongly preferred; experience with thin-film deposition, chamber clean monitoring, or semiconductor process monitoring is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving, experimental design, data analysis, written communication, presentation, and customer collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple technical priorities, and contribute to a collaborative team.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in a related technical field.
• Experience in semiconductor fabs.
• Experience with Residual Gas Analysis, Optical Emission Spectroscopy, RF sensing, or related process-monitoring technologies.
