Senior Application Development Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. Onsite customer support and international travel of approximately 25–30% are required. Relocation is not available.

Salary: $147,000–$202,500 per year.

What you will do

• Act as the technical expert for optical inspection systems in semiconductor and advanced packaging applications.
• Develop and execute application and system-level test plans to validate product performance.
• Develop, optimize, and validate inspection recipes for customer and manufacturing use cases.
• Translate customer process challenges, defect mechanisms, and inspection requirements into application and system solutions.
• Support new product introduction, characterization, beta testing, customer evaluations, troubleshooting, and performance demonstrations.
• Analyze experimental results, prepare technical reports, present recommendations, and provide training to customers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Demonstrated depth or breadth of expertise in the relevant technical discipline.
• Ability to interpret business and technical challenges and recommend improvements to products, processes, or services.
• Ability to lead teams or projects and solve complex problems using analytical judgment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for working with engineering teams, management, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally at least 30% of the time, with additional travel as needed.
