Laser Applications Specialist

Location: Hybrid role based in Wood Dale, Illinois, United States, with an in-office expectation of three days per week. Up to 20% domestic and international travel. Valid U.S. passport required.

Salary: $88,000–$105,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead investigations into laser equipment safety issues and complex global laser coder escalations.
• Diagnose and resolve advanced field issues with service, technical support, quality, and engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance on applications, system configurations, line integration, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Support reliability, print quality, consistency, compliance, and laser safety initiatives.
• Represent Global Service in new product development, maintenance-of-line, VAVE, and engineering change projects.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, investigation summaries, field alerts, and escalation reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in laser, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 4+ years of experience in applied laser marking, industrial equipment service support, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing.
• Experience handling customer-facing technical issues and escalations.
• Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and make sound technical decisions.
• Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, communication, and technical judgment skills.
