TL;DR
Cybersecurity Engineer (RMF/ISSO): Maintaining the cybersecurity posture of the U.S. Coast Guard International Ice Patrol network and supporting BAPS through the RMF pipeline with an accent on compliance documentation, vulnerability remediation, and Windows/LAN patching. Focus on developing SSP and SAR artifacts, managing POA&M items, performing security scans, and implementing security controls toward an ATO.

Location: 100% on-site in Suitland, Maryland, United States. Flexible scheduling is available, with preferred afternoon shifts or start times from 10:00 AM onward.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Develop, update, and maintain RMF documentation, including SSPs and SARs, to support the BAPS application toward an ATO.
  • Track, prioritize, and manage vulnerability tickets and POA&M items through remediation and closure.
  • Maintain security documentation and system information in eMASS.
  • Perform hands-on security testing, run scans, and produce evidence of compliance with mandatory security controls.
  • Patch Windows systems and the local LAN for approximately 16 hours per week.
  • Lead local hardware deployment projects and collaborate with International Ice Patrol leadership on security control implementation.

Requirements

  • High school education with 9+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher, such as Security+ CE or CySA+.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, engineering, system administration, or network support.
  • Experience managing vulnerability tickets, POA&Ms, security scans, compliance documentation, Windows patching, and LAN environments.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Active Secret clearance and ability to work 100% on-site in Suitland, Maryland are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting the U.S. Coast Guard, DHS, or military IT environments.
  • Experience with eMASS, ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scans, and DISA STIGs.
  • Willingness to work afternoon hours or start at 10:00 AM or later.
