Cybersecurity Analyst (Security and AI Governance)

Location: Washington, DC; in-office position

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 starting base salary per year

What you will do

• Monitor security systems, networks, applications, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled services for suspicious activity and threats.
• Analyze alerts, investigate incidents, determine root causes, and support containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident reviews.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, security assessments, and risk analyses while coordinating remediation with technical and business stakeholders.
• Develop and improve cybersecurity and AI governance policies, standards, procedures, controls, and Shadow AI oversight programs.
• Review internally developed AI solutions, machine learning models, employee AI initiatives, and third-party AI vendors for security, privacy, compliance, data protection, and operational risks.
• Maintain security tools, AI inventories, dashboards, metrics, reports, documentation, and support audits, training, and regulatory reporting.

Requirements

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, data science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, application security, cloud security, software development, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience with security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and security control implementation.
• Knowledge of CIS Controls, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, network and endpoint security, identity and access management, cloud security, API security, and secure software development.
• Understanding of generative AI, machine learning, LLMs, prompt injection, data privacy, AI model security, and AI governance principles.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, organizational, and independent problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SIEM tools and security monitoring platforms.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience supporting software development, DevSecOps, or application security initiatives.
• CISSP, CEH, Security+, GSEC, or relevant AI, cloud, application security, or governance certifications.
