Cybersecurity Analyst, Security and AI Governance (AI)

Location: In-office position in Herndon, Virginia, United States

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 base salary

What you will do

• Monitor security systems, networks, applications, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled services for suspicious activity and threats.
• Investigate security alerts and incidents, support containment and recovery, and conduct post-incident analysis.
• Perform vulnerability assessments, security assessments, risk analyses, and remediation coordination.
• Develop and improve cybersecurity and AI governance policies, standards, procedures, controls, and Shadow AI oversight programs.
• Assess internally developed AI solutions, machine learning models, third-party AI vendors, and AI-enabled business applications for security, privacy, compliance, and operational risks.
• Maintain security tools, inventories, dashboards, metrics, reports, documentation, and support audits, training, and regulatory reporting.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, data science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, application security, cloud security, software development, or a related technical role.
• Experience with security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and security control implementation.
• Familiarity with generative AI, machine learning, large language models, AI-enabled applications, prompt injection, data privacy, and AI model security.
• Knowledge of CIS Controls, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, network and endpoint security, identity and access management, API security, cloud security, and secure software development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, documentation, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SIEM tools and security monitoring platforms.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience supporting software development, DevSecOps, or application security initiatives.
• CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, GSEC, or relevant AI, cloud, application security, or governance certifications.
