Etch Customer Engineer I (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Kitakami, Japan; on-site customer equipment support with approximately 10% travel

What you will do

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to support reliable equipment operation.
• Work in clean-room environments and follow required safety, environmental, and on-site procedures.

Requirements

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Ability to learn and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a passport if travel is required, and ability to meet on-site safety, environmental, and health protocols.

Nice to have

• 1–2 years of customer or field service experience or related technical experience.
• Associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems, or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
