Security Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in San Jose, California, United States. Relocation support is available for those moving to San Jose.

Estimated base salary: $150,000–$250,000 per year, plus significant equity.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate monitoring, detection, and response infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Harden security baselines and manage vulnerability, patching, configuration assurance, and penetration testing programs.
• Build centralized telemetry pipelines integrating logs, traces, and signals into unified SIEM systems.
• Implement zero-trust, SASE, CASB, conditional access, IAM, network security, and endpoint protection controls.
• Develop detection logic, automation, AI agents, integrations, and SOAR playbooks for alert triage, containment, and remediation.
• Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, establish security metrics, and coordinate response with infrastructure, IT, and application teams.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in security engineering, SOC operations, detection engineering, incident response, or a similar technical role.
• Strong software engineering and automation skills with Python, Go, and Bash.
• Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, endpoint hardening, and telemetry collection across macOS, Linux, Windows, and server environments.
• Experience with zero-trust architectures, conditional access, SASE, CASB, IAM, and SSO systems such as Okta, Google Workspace, and FreeIPA.
• Strong networking knowledge covering SD-WAN, VPN, IDS/IPS, firewalls, segmentation, and network monitoring.
• Knowledge of threat modeling, MITRE ATT&CK, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, cloud security, and hybrid environments such as AWS, GCP, and on-premises clusters.
