Sell Side Research Associate, Technology

Location: New York, New York; work is performed in the New York office.

Annual base pay: $115,000–$140,000, plus discretionary bonus and benefits.

Financial services firm operating a ranked sell-side equity research platform focused on differentiated research and coverage of emerging growth companies.

What you will do

• Provide primary analytical support to the Senior Analyst covering the technology sector.
• Conduct proprietary research, customer and partner interviews, industry surveys, and primary market research.
• Build financial models and forecasts, perform financial and valuation analyses, and create competitive profiles for covered companies.
• Collect and analyze company documents, SEC and regulatory filings, industry publications, trade show information, and online data.
• Interact with company management, the internal sales force, and institutional investors.
• Monitor and evaluate company news and events and perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of analytical work experience in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent research, writing, communication, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Independent thinking, self-starting ability, and motivation to learn about and excel in a dynamic industry.
• Will not require sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Prior sell-side or buy-side equity research experience.
• Knowledge of the technology sector, including hardware, software, or internet companies.
• Series 7, 63, 86, and/or 87 licenses.
• Passion for financial markets and a career in equity research demonstrated through school projects or work experience.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in sell-side equity research.
