Director, Engineering (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. Travel required approximately 10% of the time. Relocation is not available.

Salary: $189,000–$260,000 per year, plus potential bonus and stock award compensation.

What you will do

• Lead a global, multidisciplinary engineering organization through managers and senior technical leaders.
• Define architectures and interfaces for vacuum and atmospheric Mainframe, EFEM, wafer-handling robotics, motion systems, and control platforms.
• Own the engineering lifecycle from concepts and requirements through design, integration, verification, qualification, release, and customer adoption.
• Establish common platform strategies that balance reuse, standardization, product-specific requirements, and lifecycle cost.
• Direct qualification, validation, reliability, compliance, risk retirement, issue closure, and release approval.
• Engage with customers, suppliers, Business Units, operations, supply chain, and service organizations to resolve tradeoffs and deliver platform solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, robotics, controls, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Significant engineering leadership experience in semiconductor equipment, complex capital equipment, industrial automation, robotics, or another high-reliability technology environment.
• Experience leading managers and global engineering teams through architecture definition, product development, qualification, release, and customer engagement.
• Deep knowledge of semiconductor equipment platforms, vacuum and atmospheric systems, EFEM architectures, wafer-handling robotics, motion control, automation software, subsystem integration, safety, and factory interfaces.
• Experience managing multiple product organizations and strategic suppliers in support of integrated systems and customer commitments.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, design reviews, risk analysis, verification, validation, reliability qualification, and product release processes.
