Senior Security Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and eligibility under U.S. space technology export regulations.

Salary: $120,000–$222,000 per year, plus equity and potential performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Design security architectures for new ground station infrastructure and space communication protocols.
• Implement security controls for distributed systems operating across multiple continents and satellite orbits.
• Secure the technology stack from RF protocols and endpoints to Kubernetes clusters and cloud infrastructure.
• Deploy enterprise SIEM solutions capable of processing large volumes of satellite communications data and maintaining audit trails.
• Lead incident response and threat hunting across the ground station network in collaboration with engineering, network operations, and compliance teams.
• Build automated compliance pipelines, documentation, and reporting aligned with FedRAMP and NIST 800-171 requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
• Experience conducting security architecture reviews in regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of NIST 800-171, CUI, and FedRAMP frameworks.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and CI/CD pipelines operating across air-gapped networks.
• Proficiency in a general-purpose programming language such as Python, Go, or Rust, plus experience implementing defensive controls for endpoints, SaaS applications, and infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Experience building large-scale log ingestion and storage pipelines.
• Production experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, or Panther and endpoint security tools such as CrowdStrike or SentinelOne.
• Strong Linux experience, knowledge of DFARS requirements, or familiarity with EMASS and similar government assessment tools.
• Experience owning complex security projects and interfacing with government customers.
