Senior Security Engineer - AI Security & Platforms

Location: San Ramon, California or Reno, Nevada, United States. Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

What you will do

• Design and build secure-by-default AI platforms, guardrails, reusable frameworks, and automation from architecture through Infrastructure-as-Code deployment and operation.
• Assess AI-powered features, lead security reviews, and identify risks including prompt injection, sanitization gaps, data leakage, and trust-boundary violations.
• Design least-privilege patterns and trust boundaries for agentic systems, tool use, and MCP integrations.
• Threat-model AI features, define security requirements before implementation, and partner with engineering teams on secure designs.
• Track AI-related findings through triage and remediation, validate fixes, and improve root-cause and variant analysis.
• Build AI-augmented security tooling and pipelines, review production code and Infrastructure-as-Code, and serve as a security partner to multiple engineering teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in application security, cloud security, or security-focused software engineering.
• Depth in secure code review and product security, cloud and infrastructure security, or production software development with a strong security focus.
• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language; Python is preferred.
• Hands-on daily use of AI/LLM tooling and the ability to validate its output for correctness and risk is essential.
• Applied experience securing or building AI/LLM-powered systems, or demonstrated ability to quickly develop expertise in new technical domains.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain security tradeoffs to engineering and product partners.

Nice to have

• Experience with prompt-injection prevention, LLM input/output sanitization, agent security, tool-use security, or MCP security.
• Experience building security automation, internal tooling, or guardrail frameworks.
• Familiarity with AWS, cloud-native security, Terraform, or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Contributions to AI security research, open-source security tooling, or emerging AI security standards.
