Senior Manager of Data Engineering (Insurance)

What you will do

• Lead the evolution of the claims data platform from legacy systems to modern, event-driven infrastructure.
• Design and deliver RESTful APIs, data services, and self-service data products.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines with orchestration, monitoring, alerting, and data quality controls.
• Manage enterprise database operations across relational and NoSQL platforms.
• Partner with Architecture, Security, Compliance, Analytics, Data Science, Claims Operations, and development teams.
• Lead technical teams and report on platform health, roadmap progress, and strategic opportunities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or data platform development.
• 4+ years of people management experience leading technical teams with 5+ direct reports.
• Deep expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, or equivalent relational databases, with familiarity with MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or Pulsar; Azure or AWS; Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
• Proficiency with Apache Airflow, dbt, or similar tools, plus Python, SQL, and familiarity with Spark or PySpark.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Guidewire, Duck Creek, or similar claims management systems.
• Knowledge of data cataloging, lineage, master data management, Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD, and insurance regulatory compliance.
