Software Engineer (Space Infrastructure)

Location: Torrance, California or Washington, D.C.; U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligible export authorization is required. The role also requires obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Salary: $161,000–$224,000 per year, plus equity, discretionary performance bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and operate distributed control-plane systems that schedule satellite passes across AWS and on-premises infrastructure.
• Build customer-facing and internal APIs, databases, front-end components, and workflow orchestration for satellite-pass reservations and network coordination.
• Develop real-time TT&C and data-transfer interfaces for command uplink, telemetry downlink, and near-real-time delivery.
• Design ground-station control software interacting with embedded systems, RF modems, and FPGA-based systems.
• Architect high-throughput data pipelines and Tbps-class SD-WAN networking with QoS and forward error correction.
• Build monitoring, telemetry, simulation, infrastructure, CI/CD, and automated production-line testing systems.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Rust, Golang, C, or C++ and experience designing distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud services, orchestration, microservices, networking, high-throughput data movement, and RESTful APIs.
• Front-end development experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and Angular, React, or a similar framework.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance and meet U.S. space-technology export requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, FPGA programming, or hardware control systems.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, data-processing frameworks, or physical and network simulations.
• Experience building orchestration engines, automated testing frameworks, or production-line testing software.
