Senior PCB Designer

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: $100,000–$220,000 per year, plus equity, performance bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the physical layout of complex, high-density, high-layer-count PCBs for digital, RF, mixed-signal, and power systems.
• Develop layer stackups, component placement, routing feasibility studies, and high-speed/high-frequency design constraints.
• Create and maintain ECAD libraries for active, passive, and high-pin-count components.
• Apply DFM, DFA, and DFT practices and produce fabrication and assembly documentation, including Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, drill charts, and fabrication drawings.
• Collaborate with electrical, RF, antenna, production, fabrication, and assembly teams to resolve technical issues and improve design rules.
• Establish PCB layout standards, tools, automation scripts, and mentoring practices as the first dedicated PCB layout hire.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in complex, high-density PCB layout, or a related electrical engineering degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on expertise in impedance control, differential pairs, length matching, crosstalk mitigation, RF-aware routing, EMI/EMC mitigation, and board-level power delivery networks.
• Experience with fine-pitch BGAs, high-pin-density components, micro-vias, PCB materials, dielectric properties, and multilayer high-frequency stackups.
• Ability to work autonomously, set technical direction, and make final layout decisions with minimal oversight.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• 8+ years designing high-speed, high-frequency mixed-signal PCBs for FPGAs, processors, RF/antenna, or high-performance networking systems.
• Experience with multi-gigabit SerDes, DDR, JESD204B/C, and 10/100G Ethernet.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Siemens Xpedition, plus knowledge of IPC standards.
• Experience with ECAD/MCAD co-design, SolidWorks, STEP files, scripting, or layout automation.
• Experience building PCB layout functions, standards libraries, or design processes from scratch.
