Sr. Software Engineer (Go, AWS)

Location: PA - Philadelphia, 1800 Arch St; onsite collaboration is generally preferred

What you will do

• Design and build scalable platform frameworks and abstractions for repeatable third-party smart-home device onboarding.
• Lead architecture for cloud-to-cloud API and event/callback integrations, including authentication, token lifecycles, API contracts, versioning, and rate limits.
• Develop device-platform abstractions for identity, capabilities, commands, events, state synchronization, onboarding, deprovisioning, and lifecycle management.
• Build high-concurrency backend services in Go on AWS using Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, and SSM.
• Implement resilient event-driven integrations with asynchronous processing, idempotency, retries, backpressure, partial-failure handling, and state reconciliation.
• Own delivery and operations, maintain the existing Java/Spring Boot platform during the transition, establish observability standards, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in Go or another statically typed language such as Java, with the ability to ramp up on Go.
• Hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native AWS systems, including Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, and SSM.
• Experience designing distributed, high-concurrency, low-latency systems and optimizing scalability and performance.
• Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, production operations, monitoring, alerting, on-call support, and incident response.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of coursework and professional experience; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating third-party devices, APIs, SDKs, hardware, or IoT protocols.
• Experience with external cloud platforms or SaaS APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging.
• Production Go, Spring Boot, or Micronaut experience.
• AWS certification.
