Opto-Mechanical Engineer IV (E4)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. Full-time onsite role with approximately 10% travel. Relocation eligible.

Salary: $147,000–$202,500 per year

What you will do

• Lead and design complex opto-mechanical subsystems for prototype and production configurations.
• Develop detailed component and assembly drawings with tight tolerancing requirements.
• Design sub-assemblies supporting sub-micron alignment, thermal stability, and long-term system performance.
• Define interfaces between optical, mechanical, and electrical subsystems and lead integration and alignment activities.
• Develop alignment procedures, optical bench setups, calibration workflows, engineering analyses, and test reports.
• Drive design for manufacturability and high-volume manufacturing, supplier development, product specifications, and cross-functional technical communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• Subject-matter expertise with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis, and/or Design for Excellence principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems with limited to no supervision.
• Ability to communicate design status, risks, and trade-offs with program management, stakeholders, and customers.
