TL;DR
RF Hardware Engineer (Space Communications): Designing and characterizing RF electronics for phased-array ground stations supporting satellite communications with an accent on amplifiers, filters, antennas, electromagnetic simulation, and integrated system performance. Focus on solving RF performance challenges involving noise figure, non-linearity, power handling, impedance matching, amplifier stability, and cascaded network analysis.

Location: Torrance, California, United States. The position requires eligibility under U.S. ITAR regulations and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Salary: $104,000–$155,000 per year, plus equity. Level 1: $104,000–$130,000; Level 2: $124,000–$155,000.

Company

Space infrastructure company developing phased-array ground stations and advanced communications systems for satellite missions, including national security, connectivity, and disaster response.

What you will do

  • Design RF electronics hardware for next-generation products and improve existing hardware reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Create electromagnetic simulation models for amplifiers, filters, and PCB layouts.
  • Build and characterize RF circuits including LNAs, filters, power amplifiers, power circuitry, and digital control circuitry.
  • Influence ground network and portal design through RF performance trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with electrical, RF, mechanical, manufacturing, and software engineers to troubleshoot integrated RF system performance from concept through production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0–4+ years of RF design experience across circuits, filters, or antennas.
  • Must successfully obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Nice to have

  • RF line-up design involving non-linearity, noise, output power, and blocker or jammer tolerance.
  • Power amplifier, LNA, and filter design experience.
  • Point-of-load converter bring-up and digital interfaces such as I2C and SPI.
  • Knowledge of EVM, noise figure, IIP2, IMD, impedance matching, amplifier stability, and cascaded network analysis.
  • Python or another programming language for data analysis and test automation.

Culture & Benefits

  • Equity, discretionary performance bonuses, and long-term incentives.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage, plus flexible spending accounts.
  • Flexible time off and 10 or more paid holidays per year.
  • Retirement savings plans and professional development opportunities.
  • Work on vertically integrated space communications systems deployed for real-world missions.
