Principal Hardware Engineer (High Speed PCB)

Location: Carson, California, US; the role also references Sunnyvale, California, and hybrid work practices.

Salary: $135,600.00–$2,000,000.00 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives.

What you will do

• Design and bring up Wi-Fi access point products and accessories.
• Debug and validate Wi-Fi access point designs and support compliance testing.
• Investigate, present, and evaluate new hardware solutions and proofs of concept.
• Review outsourced designs and coordinate with electrical, mechanical, software, RF, and antenna engineering teams.
• Generate PoC, PRD, HRD, HWFS, BOM, test plan, failure analysis, and other hardware documentation.
• Sustain legacy products and lead designs from initial concept through product development.

Requirements

• BSEE degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in high-speed digital hardware design.
• Experience across hardware design, including schematic capture, PCB layout constraints, design for manufacturing, bring-up, and design validation.
• Experience with common interfaces including PCIe, 10GE, DDR4, SPI, I2C, USB, and UART.
• Excellent knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity for high-speed designs.
• Excellent knowledge of DC/DC switching power supplies, including PoE PSE and PD.
• Strong proficiency with OrCAD, Allegro, Arena, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory testing, laboratory equipment, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, Sifos PoE testers, and thermal chambers.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to proactively lead the complete design process from scratch through product development.

Nice to have

• Basic knowledge of RF and antenna technology.
• Familiarity with major industry Wi-Fi SoCs such as Qualcomm or Broadcom.
• Ability to manage third parties for component sourcing, design, and design reviews.
• Experience with ODM, JDM, and contract manufacturer designs.
