What you will do

  • Characterize dopant profiles and diffusion depths across implant recipes through hands-on data collection, analysis, and optimization.
  • Prioritize SIMS laboratory activities and balance output and cycle time against internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for tool operation, qualification, and performance tracking.
  • Develop and apply advanced SIMS characterization techniques for emerging device architectures and technology inflections.
  • Collaborate on experimental design, root-cause analysis, process problem-solving, statistical process control, and tool-health monitoring.
  • Provide technical consultation, training, customer support, documentation, presentations, and industry publications while troubleshooting laboratory equipment and processes.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Direct knowledge and proven interest in ion-beam interactions with materials and defects, demonstrated through research or publications.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining advanced metrology or analytical instrumentation.
  • Understanding of semiconductor fundamentals, process modules, characterization, device physics, and fabrication.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain an on-site laboratory presence in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Nice to have

  • Semiconductor industry experience with SIMS, vacuum electronics, atom probe tomography, or mass spectrometry.
  • Fab experience or failure-analysis experience involving ion doping and related metrology.
