Sr. UTM Engineer (Aviation Robotics)

Salary: $198,600–$292,000 USD per year, plus equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy interoperable services for route planning and airspace deconfliction.
• Develop path-planning and deconfliction algorithms for safe, efficient routes in dynamic environments.
• Build tools to evaluate and optimize airspace efficiency and utilization.
• Integrate the deconfliction stack with hirify.global systems and translate mission and airspace status for internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, commercial operations, and flight operations to ship features for real-world flight.
• Represent hirify.global Air in standards bodies, industry forums, and interoperability efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience across the full lifecycle of distributed systems in aviation, finance, communications, healthcare, or another interoperability-, uptime-, or safety-critical field.
• Experience shipping production services that interoperate with systems outside your control and pass external or open-source conformance or certification testing.
• Hands-on experience with path planning, routing, or deconfliction, or strong fundamentals in graph search, optimization, or motion planning.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with C++, Python, Go, or similar languages, plus familiarity with real-time or fault-tolerant system design.
• Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders and represent technical work externally.

Nice to have

• Experience with airspace management, air traffic control, or UAS traffic management systems.
• Experience with technical standards bodies or open-source interoperability efforts.
• Familiarity with certification-aware aerospace development processes such as DO-178 or ARP4761.
• Experience with real-time, embedded, or gracefully degrading systems.
