Engineer III, MacOS Sensor (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, based in Redmond, WA, Sunnyvale, CA, Austin, TX, New York City, or Toronto, with at least 2 days per week in the office

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 USD per year for U.S. candidates; $115,000–$165,000 CAD per year for Canada-based employment, plus variable compensation, equity, and benefits

Cybersecurity company building an AI-native platform that detects and prevents malicious behavior across modern operating systems and processes large-scale security telemetry.

What you will do

• Design and build detection logic and systems for identifying cyber attackers and preventing breaches.
• Research malicious activity detection techniques, including reverse engineering and big-data analysis.
• Own features from initial design through implementation, release, and post-release support.
• Extend the endpoint sensor codebase using Swift, C++, Python, and domain-specific tools.
• Apply secure coding, testing, debugging, performance optimization, code review, CI/CD, and OS-internals practices.
• Collaborate across functions and geographies while troubleshooting customer-reported product issues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in reverse engineering, threat detection, malware analysis, or delivering software in Swift, C/C++, or Objective-C, with familiarity or interest in security.
• Strong knowledge of macOS internals, including processes, storage, networking, memory management, APIs, and frameworks.
• Ability to write high-quality Swift and/or C/C++ code for highly concurrent, reliable, performant, and resource-constrained systems.
• Experience delivering enterprise software across CI, testing, debugging, performance tracing, release management, telemetry analysis, and issue handling.
• Ability to communicate designs clearly and collaborate effectively with distributed teams and management.
• Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with macOS security frameworks and events such as Endpoint Security and Network Extension.
• Endpoint threat detection or sensor development experience on macOS, Linux, or Windows.
• Experience developing and delivering 24/7 enterprise endpoint software.
• Python and scripting experience for research, tooling, and automation.
• Knowledge of AI developments and the macOS threat landscape.
