What you will do
- Support lead teachers with classroom learning and provide one-to-one or small-group instruction.
- Assist students with academic, behavioral, medical, and social needs across general and special education settings.
- Provide interventions, assessments, progress monitoring, and accurate student records.
- Supervise students before, during, and after school, including lunch, recess, and occasional transportation duties.
- Support special education teachers with IEP documentation, clerical work, administrative tasks, and family communication.
- Lead the classroom when the lead teacher is absent and administer first aid or prescribed medication according to established procedures.
Requirements
- Associateβs degree required; bachelorβs degree preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children, especially students with special needs.
- Ability to implement lessons based on state standards and support small-group instruction.
- Ability to learn or apply IEP documentation, special education reporting software, RTI, co-teaching, and collaboration practices.
- Training or familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis and de-escalation strategies.
- Ability to work MondayβFriday, 7:15 a.m.β3:45 p.m., in a fast-paced classroom environment with physical activity and student-care responsibilities.
Nice to have
- Substitute Permit.
- Bilingual Spanish/English ability.
- CPI certification.
- First Aid and/or CPR certification.
- Experience with Siras or similar special education reporting software.
