TL;DR

Test Development Assistant, National Assessment of Educational Progress (K–12 assessment): Supporting the development, review, and implementation of educational assessments with an accent on assessment frameworks, content standards, quality control, and stakeholder coordination. Focus on analyzing assessment materials, reviewing digital platforms, coordinating feedback, and producing clear technical summaries for diverse audiences.

Location: Remote within the United States or onsite at a U.S. AIR office; U.S. citizenship is required. The role requires availability for meetings across Central and Eastern U.S. time zones and does not include U.S. territories.

Salary: $27–$30 USD per hour, equivalent to approximately $4,320–$4,800 USD per month.

What you will do

  • Support assessment development, including reviewing assessment items, questionnaires, frameworks, documentation, statistics, standards, and reporting materials.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze feedback from project teams, clients, and constituent groups.
  • Review assessment platforms for user experience and verify content integration quality.
  • Observe assessment scoring, administration, and training activities in virtual and in-person settings.
  • Prepare presentations and concise written summaries for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate outreach, records, follow-ups, partnerships, and client engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Familiarity with digital K–12 assessment, assessment frameworks, and U.S. content standards.
  • Content knowledge in reading or English/language arts, science, or mathematics.
  • Experience reviewing documents and applying technical standards.
  • One or two years of teaching experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and successful National Background Investigation Services clearance are required.

  • Experience working on operational assessments.
