Principal Infrastructure & Cloud Architect (Azure)

Location: Libertyville, Illinois, United States

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 yearly, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Corporate Bonus Plan.

What you will do

• Define and evolve enterprise hybrid infrastructure and Azure cloud architecture strategies, roadmaps, standards, and reusable reference designs.
• Architect Azure foundations, landing zones, governance, identity integration, policies, connectivity, logging, monitoring, and cost controls.
• Own enterprise network architecture across data centers, campuses, WAN, and cloud, including routing, segmentation, DNS/DHCP, firewalls, ExpressRoute, VPN, peering, and private connectivity.
• Establish secure-by-design, Zero Trust, compliance, risk management, and least-privilege architecture practices.
• Define reliability, observability, disaster recovery, business continuity, SLO, SLA, RTO, and RPO standards for 24x7x365 services.
• Set infrastructure-as-code, automation, FinOps, vendor, and platform engineering standards while influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 12–15 years of related experience, including at least 12 years in IT infrastructure and 8+ years architecting enterprise hybrid infrastructure and cloud platforms.
• At least 5 years in a principal, lead, solutions, or enterprise architecture role responsible for reference architectures, standards, and governance.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure foundations and governance, including CAF-aligned landing zones, management groups, subscriptions, policies, RBAC/PIM, monitoring, logging, and cost management.
• Strong enterprise and cloud networking expertise, including routing, switching, segmentation, IP addressing, DNS/DHCP, load balancing, high availability, ExpressRoute/VPN, BGP, UDRs, SD-WAN/SASE, and Zero Trust-aligned remote access.
• Experience with hybrid infrastructure, Windows and/or Linux, virtualization, storage, backup, certificates, security architecture, compliance, reliability engineering, ITIL-aligned operations, and disaster recovery.
• Fluency in English is required. Travel by plane or automobile may be required, typically 10% or less.

• Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, ITIL, VMware, networking, or security certifications.
• Advanced certifications such as AZ-305, AZ-500, CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, PCNSE, or Fortinet NSE.
