Corporate Counsel, Product Privacy (Fintech)

Location: New York, New York; Atlanta, Georgia; Oakland, California; San Diego, California

Salary: $191,000–$268,500 annual base pay, depending on location

What you will do

• Provide product-focused privacy counsel for consumer and business experiences across tax, money, mid-market, and hirify.global Services.
• Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Data Science, Security, and Marketing from concept through product launch.
• Advise on privacy-by-design controls, data minimization, purpose limitation, transparency, customer choice, and dark-pattern risk.
• Support privacy issues involving tax and financial data, sensitive information, identity verification, customer service journeys, and regulated datasets.
• Conduct and document privacy impact assessments, assess risks, define mitigations, and provide launch guidance.
• Develop scalable privacy templates, playbooks, intake processes, training, and guidance for product teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant legal experience in-house and/or at a law firm.
• Strong knowledge of US data privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA, state privacy laws, and GLBA.
• Experience translating complex legal requirements into actionable policies, frameworks, and guidelines.
• Ability to analyze data-driven products and assess privacy and legal risks.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders and outside counsel on privacy, product design, transactions, and technology initiatives.
• JD and membership in good standing with at least one US State Bar required.

Nice to have

• Experience with tax, fintech, money movement, lending-adjacent products, or other regulated data environments.
• Familiarity with GDPR/ePrivacy, PIPEDA, and Privacy Enhancing Technologies.
• Background in data analytics, data science, technology, or engineering.
• IAPP CIPP or CIPT certification.
