Software Engineer (Performance)

Location: New York, hybrid

Salary: $170,000–$300,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Analyze core systems to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Create and monitor performance metrics for service components.
• Advise engineering teams on scalable and performant feature design.
• Optimize API latency, database queries, and relational schemas.
• Address scaling challenges involving Postgres, Redis, ECS services, and Node event loops.

Requirements

• Experience solving large-scale systems and data problems in production.
• Experience optimizing API latency, SQL queries, and relational database schemas.
• Expertise with Redis, Postgres, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
• Advanced proficiency optimizing serverless workloads on AWS.
• Experience with systems such as high-performance data pipelines or event ingestion platforms.
• Results-oriented mindset and strong bias toward impact.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, TypeScript, Python, Terraform, CircleCI, Netlify, Playwright, CloudWatch, Datadog, or Mezmo.
