Location: Remote within the United States or from AIR offices in Arlington, Virginia; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; Sacramento, California; or Austin, Texas. The role requires travel as needed, does not include U.S. territories, and applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the U.S.
Annual salary: $250,000–$280,000 USD.

What you will do
- Lead the Healthcare Innovations Program, including its people, projects, operations, quality assurance, and business pursuits.
- Set the program’s strategic direction and develop operational plans, budgets, and growth strategies.
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare delivery and payment models using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams of health economists, data scientists, quantitative researchers, and qualitative researchers on large-scale federal health projects.
- Build trusted relationships with CMS, other government and private-sector clients, teaming partners, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Support staff development, workforce planning, client satisfaction, financial performance, and AIR’s external reputation.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Health Economics, Health Services Research, or a related field.
- At least 20 years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating healthcare delivery and payment programs and policies.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience, including program leadership, high-level management, and team development.
- Expertise in health economics, healthcare delivery and payment models, Medicare and Medicaid policy, data analytics, and healthcare quality measurement, including CMMI models.
- Proven success leading proposals, winning contract work, managing complex projects, and delivering results for federal or state government and foundation clients.
- Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States; employment-based visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available.
Nice to have
- Established reputation as a healthcare policy and research thought leader through publications, presentations, advisory roles, or similar contributions.
- Experience integrating teams and leading through organizational transitions.
