TL;DR
Senior Process Engineer (Medical Devices): Supporting and improving chemical, polymer extrusion, textile, and biomedical manufacturing processes for absorbable and non-absorbable sutures with an accent on process capability, equipment reliability, validation, and product transitions into manufacturing. Focus on designing experiments, performing IQ/OQ/PQ qualifications, solving production and field issues through root cause analysis, and leading cross-functional manufacturing improvement projects.

Location: North Haven, Connecticut, United States; 5 days a week onsite

Salary: $103,200–$154,800 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Support manufacturing of absorbable and non-absorbable sutures, including polymer development, crystallization, purification, extrusion, annealing, and textile processes.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and manage technical, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Specify, procure, install, qualify, validate, troubleshoot, and support training for manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Improve process capability, equipment reliability, and manufacturing efficiency using data analysis, statistical methods, and continuous improvement.
  • Support new product development, product integration, quality improvement, and capital equipment projects.
  • Investigate production and field issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 2 years, or a PhD with no experience required.
  • Experience applying statistical methods and science-based decision-making to design experiments and improve processes.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working on cross-functional technical teams.
  • Experience using Minitab for data analysis and problem solving.
  • Must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.
  • Foreign baccalaureate degrees must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

  • Medical device industry experience.
  • Experience with Design for Reliability, Design for Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, absorbable polymers, fiber extrusion, textile manufacturing, or material characterization.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
