Staff Product Engineer (Developer Experience)

Location: Houston, New York, San Francisco, or Seattle, United States

Salary: $220,000–$266,667 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and/or commission programs.

What you will do

• Define multi-quarter strategy, roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics for a Developer Experience domain.
• Lead cross-team technical delivery across products, repositories, dependencies, and shared paved roads.
• Build developer-facing surfaces including Console and Fleet Manager experiences, CLIs, generators, templates, APIs, SDKs, documentation, and onboarding flows.
• Develop Terraform/IaC workflows, operational patterns, telemetry, feedback loops, and KPI instrumentation.
• Establish testing, performance, accessibility, observability, feature-flag, canary, and rollback standards.
• Embed RBAC/IAM, PII handling, auditability, safe defaults, and mentoring into engineering workflows.

Requirements

• Significant experience shipping developer-facing products or platforms with strong product sense and engineering fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Go or clear evidence of quickly ramping up in Go-based developer tooling.
• Strong full-stack capability across TypeScript, React, Go-based tooling, telemetry, and automation.
• Staff-level experience leading ambiguous cross-team work through strategy, architecture, and delivery.
• Experience with OpenAPI-driven or contract-first development and operational ownership of reliability, performance, and safe production delivery.
• Strong written communication for specifications and RFCs, plus practical experience using AI with attention to cost, latency, and reliability.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping CLIs, SDKs, Terraform providers or modules, and other automation tools.
• Release engineering experience with semantic versioning, deprecation policies, signed releases, registries, or compatibility guarantees.
• Experience scaling shared UI foundations or design systems across product teams.
• Experience building AI-assisted developer features with evaluation and observability.
• Experience with cloud or platform products, IAM, auditing, reliability, and observability workflows.
