Staff Product Engineer (Developer Experience)

Location: New York, United States

Base salary: $220,000–$266,667 USD per year. Additional compensation may include bonus, equity, and/or commission.

What you will do

• Define strategy, roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics for a Developer Experience domain.
• Lead cross-team technical programs from discovery and architecture through delivery across multiple teams and repositories.
• Build and evolve Console/Fleet Manager experiences, shared UI foundations, CLIs, generators, templates, SDKs, APIs, Terraform/IaC workflows, documentation, and onboarding flows.
• Instrument developer journeys and improve activation, time-to-first-success, adoption, reliability, latency, and satisfaction.
• Establish testing, performance, accessibility, observability, feature-flag, canary, rollback, and safe-release standards.
• Embed RBAC/IAM, PII handling, auditability, safe defaults, and shared platform patterns into developer workflows while mentoring senior engineers.

Requirements

• Significant experience shipping developer-facing products or platforms such as tooling, portals, APIs/SDKs, documentation, or dashboards.
• Proficiency in Go or clear evidence of being able to ramp quickly in Go-based developer tooling.
• Strong full-stack capability with TypeScript, React, Go-based tooling, telemetry, and automation.
• Experience with OpenAPI-driven or contract-first development and operational ownership of reliability, performance, and safe production delivery.
• Experience operating at Staff scope, leading ambiguous cross-team work through strategy, architecture, and delivery.
• Strong written communication for producing specifications and RFCs, plus practical experience using AI with attention to cost, latency, and reliability.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping CLIs, SDKs, Terraform providers or modules, and other developer automation tools.
• Release engineering experience with semantic versioning, deprecation policies, signed releases, package registries, or compatibility guarantees.
• Experience scaling design systems and shared UI foundations across multiple product teams.
• Experience building AI-assisted developer features with strong evaluation and observability.
• Experience with cloud or platform products and operator workflows involving auditing, IAM, reliability, and observability.
