Head of Compliance (Crypto/DeFi)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid workplace.

Base salary: $300,000–$360,000, plus potential equity ownership, performance incentives, and comprehensive benefits.

hirify.global builds infrastructure for consumer-facing fintech applications, including onboarding, account access, and money movement across blockchain-based systems and traditional finance.

What you will do

• Build and own the compliance hirify.globalction supporting non-custodial infrastructure, crypto rails, and expanding fiat rails.
• Own the sanctions program, including screening standards, escalation, decisioning, recordkeeping, and reporting.
• Develop policies, procedures, and risk assessments for hirify.global’s DeFi-rails architecture.
• Select, implement, and manage blockchain analytics and screening vendors based on measurable performance.
• Embed compliance controls into product and engineering work from the early design stage.
• Direct outside compliance advisors and determine which capabilities should be built internally or acquired.

Requirements

• At least eight years of compliance experience, including meaningful experience at a leading crypto or DeFi company, digital asset exchange, or financial institution with a serious digital assets practice.
• Working command of Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions requirements as applied to on-chain activity.
• Direct experience with non-custodial or self-custody product architectures and a clear understanding of how compliance obligations attach to them.
• Fluency with blockchain analytics tooling and on-chain investigation, including the ability to work through a chain of transactions directly.
• Ability to write compliance standards, defend them under pressure, and distinguish rules, norms, and vendor defaults.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Comfort being the first and only compliance hire, with the ambition to build a hirify.globalction rather than maintain one.

Nice to have

• Experience standing up a compliance program from zero at an early-stage company.
• Exposure to money transmission, money services business registration, or state licensing frameworks.
• Regulatory, enforcement, or policy experience at an agency, trade association, or in private practice.
• Familiarity with card scheme rules and the compliance requirements of fiat payment rails.
