Technical Director, Middle Market Industry Segment - Commercial (Property and Casualty Insurance)

Location: Preferred location is Columbus, Ohio; remote or hybrid work is available, and the position may be filled within any of the lower 48 U.S. states. Frequent travel is required.

Salary: $138,000–$243,000 annually. Expected starting salary: $138,000–$206,000.

What you will do

• Lead technical underwriting strategy for complex Global Property and Casualty Middle Market multinational accounts sourced by N2G.
• Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for profitable growth, risk selection, retention, and new business.
• Provide underwriting authority, referral guidance, pricing advice, and technical consultation to national field underwriting teams.
• Establish underwriting guidelines, authority, appetite, and standards while monitoring portfolio quality, territory performance, mix of business, and catastrophe exposure.
• Partner with actuarial, product, risk management, claims, reinsurance, and underwriting teams to improve pricing models, capabilities, and portfolio performance.
• Educate, mentor, and coach underwriting teams; participate in broker visits, industry events, and underwriting quality reviews.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Middle Market or related commercial lines underwriting experience.
• Extensive technical understanding of assigned commercial industry segments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of underwriting, pricing, operations, producer management, competitive landscapes, and product development.
• Knowledge of commercial property and casualty products, finance and actuarial concepts, regulatory requirements, reinsurance, and account management.
• Strong strategic analysis, risk decision-making, communication, collaboration, relationship management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Undergraduate studies in business or a related field preferred; graduate studies and CPCU, ARM, or other industry designations preferred.
