Embedded Software Engineer (AI/Metal 3D Printing)

Location: Los Angeles, California; based in Hawthorne, United States. This role requires full-time onsite presence five days per week, with very limited exceptions.

Salary: $115,000–$145,000 per year, plus stock options.

What you will do

• Contribute to the architecture of embedded software for an autonomous, production-scale metal 3D printing system.
• Design and develop machine instruction interfaces for printing hardware.
• Develop software for computer vision, sensor monitoring, calibration, quality-data logging, and system health tracking.
• Integrate control algorithms into production software with process and control engineers.
• Build high-speed data acquisition and process-data collection software with FPGA developers.
• Develop, test, deploy, and document scalable software for production automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of professional post-graduation software development experience using C/C++.
• Experience designing real-time embedded systems with Linux.
• Ability to collaborate across software, hardware, process, control, and FPGA engineering.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-performance computing environments, FPGAs, or GPUs.
• PCIe driver development and troubleshooting experience.
• Rust, high-speed data acquisition, or real-time closed-loop control experience.
• Experience with industrial automation, robotics, hardware subsystems, OS coding techniques, IP protocols, and interfaces.
• First-principles problem-solving and strong written and verbal communication skills.
