Mental Health Expert (AI Safety)

Location: Seattle, Washington (Remote)

Compensation: $30–$200 per hour, depending on experience and project requirements.

hirify.global is a Series A startup developing automated tools and expert datasets for AI safety, grounded in psychology and supported by clinicians.

What you will do

• Design and test AI chat scenarios involving mental health and psychological distress.
• Roleplay clinical scenarios with AI agents, conduct red teaming, and identify behavioral edge cases.
• Develop behavioral taxonomies, personas, psychometrics, evaluation rubrics, and structured testing scenarios.
• Provide expert feedback on mental health policy for large language models and collaborate with engineers and researchers on safety metrics.
• Analyze conversations, document model failures, and support testing and fine-tuning.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and quality standards while participating in interdisciplinary reviews.

Requirements

• Graduate-level training in psychology, counseling, social work, psychiatry, or a related field.
• Experience with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and severe mental health conditions, including PTSD, BPD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, or suicidality.
• Experience in inpatient, private practice, or community mental health settings, including work with diverse populations.
• Familiarity with AI tools and large language models, plus the ability to use Slack, LLM tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of ethics and confidentiality, comfort with sensitive content, and willingness to sign NDAs.
• Availability for 10–40 hours per week when actively working on a project.

Nice to have

• Completed degree or professional licensure.
• Five or more years of clinical crisis experience.
• Experience with youth and young adults, roleplay, theatre, or conversational design.
• Trust and safety, content moderation, or behavioral data labeling experience.
• Interest in AI, NLP, or ML in clinical settings.
