What you will do

• Own the firmware layer for one or more core hardware subsystems, ensuring embedded software is robust, safe, and maintainable across prototype and production platforms.
• Deliver production-quality firmware for assigned domains (communication bus, battery charging, or actuator drives) meeting reliability and safety requirements.
• Reduce integration risk by defining firmware-to-hardware interface requirements, surfacing trade-offs early, and resolving issues before they block downstream teams.
• Establish diagnostic and telemetry infrastructure to accelerate end-of-line validation and support long-term field reliability tracking.
• Contribute to a well-structured, documented, maintainable firmware codebase that can scale as the robot adds nodes and production volume increases.

Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded firmware development in C/C++ on real hardware (7+ years for senior/staff-level positions), including interrupt timing, DMA, and timing-critical execution.
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded communication interfaces: CAN plus at least one of SPI, I²C, or UART.
• Ability to debug firmware on real hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or equivalent tools.
• Domain depth in one or more humanoid-robot subsystem areas: distributed real-time communication bus, lithium-ion battery charge management, or motor drive/actuator control firmware.
• Experience with safety-critical or fault-tolerant embedded systems; familiarity with IEC 61508 or ISO 26262.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or SafeRTOS (or similar).
