Risk Officer (Digital Assets)

Location: Hamilton, Bermuda (Remote); must be based in Bermuda or willing to relocate to support physical presence and local management requirements.

What you will do

• Maintain, operationalize, and update the Enterprise Risk Management framework, policies, and risk registers in line with Bermuda Monetary Authority expectations.
• Assess financial, operational, cyber, and crypto-specific risks, including key management, custody, settlement, and smart contract vulnerabilities.
• Monitor client asset safeguarding controls, including segregation, pooling, reconciliation, and custody requirements.
• Track daily Key Risk Indicators and report emerging risks to management and the Board of Directors.
• Prepare risk documentation, evidence, and prudential returns for the Bermuda Monetary Authority and external auditors.
• Support business continuity, disaster recovery, wind-down, technology risk, cybersecurity, capital adequacy, and liquidity oversight.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business, or Law.
• 3–5+ years of experience in risk management within digital asset businesses, custody providers, payment services, or traditional financial institutions.
• Strong knowledge of Bermuda’s Digital Asset Business Act and Bermuda Monetary Authority regulatory requirements.
• Practical understanding of DLT, digital asset mechanics, custody protocols, secure development lifecycles, and blockchain analytics tools.
• Based in Bermuda or willing to relocate to Bermuda.
• FRM, PRM, or another professional risk management or financial credential is advantageous.

Nice to have

• Experience aligning DORA or MiCAR standards with Bermuda Monetary Authority expectations.
• Background in digital asset custody, banking safeguarding frameworks, or regulated payment systems.
