Risk Officer (Digital Assets)

Location: Remote, based in Bermuda or willing to relocate to Bermuda to support physical presence and local management requirements under the BMA.

What you will do

• Maintain, operationalize, and continuously update the Enterprise Risk Management framework, policies, and risk registers in line with BMA expectations.
• Assess financial, operational, cyber, and crypto-specific risks, including cryptographic key management, custody, settlement, and smart contract or blockchain vulnerabilities.
• Monitor controls for client asset safeguarding, including asset segregation, pooling, reconciliation, and custody requirements.
• Track daily Key Risk Indicators and escalate emerging trends and vulnerabilities to management.
• Report to the Board of Directors on risk framework effectiveness, emerging threats, and risk appetite.
• Support BMA and auditor documentation, prudential returns, business continuity, disaster recovery, wind-down plans, cybersecurity programs, and capital and liquidity oversight.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business, or Law.
• 3–5+ years of experience in mid-level or senior risk management roles within digital asset business platforms, digital asset custody providers, payment services, or traditional financial institutions.
• Strong working knowledge of Bermuda’s Digital Asset Business Act and BMA regulatory requirements.
• Practical understanding of digital asset mechanics, including DLT, custody protocols, secure development lifecycles, and blockchain analytics tools.
• Based in Bermuda or willing to relocate to Bermuda to support physical presence and local management requirements under the BMA.

Nice to have

• Professional risk management or financial credentials such as FRM or PRM.
• Familiarity with aligning international standards such as DORA and MiCAR with BMA expectations.
