Principal Software Quality Specialist (QA Automation)

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $109,600–$137,000 base compensation annually, plus bonus or variable incentive pay.

What you will do

• Define and drive modern quality engineering practices across the software development lifecycle, including shift-left testing, test automation, and continuous validation.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve unit, integration, API, and end-to-end test coverage.
• Establish scalable test automation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and release validation strategies.
• Integrate quality practices into Agile and SAFe workflows, including backlog refinement, sprint execution, and PI planning.
• Identify workflow bottlenecks and improve flow efficiency, cycle time, and release predictability.
• Coach teams and promote ownership, accountability, testability, observability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• 8–10+ years of experience in Software Quality, Quality Engineering, or SDET leadership roles.
• Experience working in Agile and SAFe environments, preferably at the ART level.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and quality gates.
• Deep understanding of the SDLC, modern QA practices, and risk-based testing.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent toolsets, together with strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• SAFe experience or certification.
• Familiarity with observability or monitoring tools.
• Exposure to AI-driven quality engineering.
• Working knowledge of ISO/QMS.
