Senior Innovation Engineer (AI)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee (hybrid) or remote within the United States. Employees outside the Nashville area must travel to the Nashville office at least twice per year for company gatherings, with additional travel possible based on business needs.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build reusable Marketplace platform services for purchase orders, contract terms, invoicing, and workflow state management.
• Develop microservices and asynchronous workflows using orchestration technologies such as Temporal.
• Build prototypes and MVPs for new marketplace products, working directly with customers and iterating based on feedback.
• Improve launched products by addressing workflow friction, quality, usability, and adoption.
• Develop AI-native workflows, agent harnesses, and document-processing systems using LLM providers such as Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI.
• Partner with staff engineers, product leads, and customers while contributing to system design and mentoring newer engineers.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of software engineering experience with strong backend and distributed-systems fundamentals.
• Experience shipping a technical MVP or prototype to a customer-testable state.
• Experience integrating LLM providers or document-extraction tools, or strong ability to develop quickly in these areas.
• Comfort working across the stack and collaborating closely with product and customers.
• Ability to contribute to AI-integrated systems, customer discovery, system design, and production software.

Nice to have

• Experience with agent harnesses, RAG pipelines, data engineering, machine learning, or document processing.
• Background in financial services, construction, real estate, payments, lending, insurance, or complex B2B products.
