Software Engineer - Platform Metal (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote; candidates must be based in the UK, Spain or Ireland

Salary: €81,600–€97,920 per year in Ireland, plus RSUs

What you will do

• Manage the physical Metal environment from bare metal through Kubernetes.
• Build and operate storage, networking, and Kubernetes cluster resources outside public cloud environments.
• Manage load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, and network architecture.
• Manage Kubernetes scheduling and autoscaling.
• Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules, including versioning and provider compatibility.
• Work with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand platform requirements and prioritize capabilities.

Requirements

• Must be located in the UK, Spain or Ireland.
• Experience with datacenter environments and operating production code.
• Experience with distributed systems and the full software lifecycle, including design documentation and integration testing.
• Experience with Kubernetes infrastructure, networking, scheduling, or autoscaling.
• Programming experience with Go, Python, or Shell.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cluster API, Tinkerbell, Talos, or Ceph.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure managed Kubernetes services, including EKS, GKE, or AKS.
• Experience with Tanka, Jsonnet, Karpenter, Terraform, or Crossplane.
• Open-source or community-based project experience.
