UK Secure Network Implementation Engineer (Cisco)

Location: Sheffield or Birmingham, UK. The role may include late shifts and Saturdays. Government Security Clearance to SC level is required, including a minimum of 5 years’ residence in the UK.

What you will do

• Lead complex network configurations and develop bespoke solutions alongside standard templates.
• Translate customer requirements into configurations, network diagrams, and deployment documentation.
• Prepare site-specific documentation for on-site implementation.
• Provide remote deployment support, troubleshoot issues, and apply configuration changes.
• Own orders through the agreed delivery processes and participate in customer and project meetings.
• Coach colleagues, promote best practices, and improve efficiency while maintaining delivery standards.

Requirements

• CCNA certification or equivalent vendor accreditation and experience.
• Hands-on experience configuring routing and/or switching components.
• Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless networking solutions.
• Ability to work during daytime hours with occasional late shifts and Saturdays.
• Willingness to undergo UK Government Security Clearance to SC level, requiring at least 5 years of UK residence.

Nice to have

• Experience with SD-WAN solutions such as Fortinet, Meraki, or Cisco.
• CCNP or equivalent professional-level certification.
• Knowledge of IT managed services operations.
• Proficiency with CLI for deploying and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches.
• Experience producing technical documentation, communicating with stakeholders, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to continuous improvement.
