Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Manchester, UK, hybrid; minimum 50% of working time per month in the office. New team members initially work full-time in the office.

What you will do

• Design, deliver, support and maintain secure, resilient and supportable infrastructure solutions.
• Own the technical design and delivery of medium-sized infrastructure changes and projects.
• Manage dependencies across infrastructure technologies, applications, networks, identity, security and operational processes.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support incident and problem resolution.
• Produce technical documentation, implementation plans, support handover materials and standards documentation.
• Guide less experienced Infrastructure Engineers and work with suppliers and third-party support providers.

Requirements

• Strong experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or similar technical role, preferably in financial services, regulated or business-critical environments.
• Experience designing, delivering and supporting production infrastructure services.
• Knowledge of VMware technologies, including Dell VxRail, Aria Suite, NSX, HCX, vSAN, VCF and VMC.
• Experience with Fortinet SD-WAN and firewall technologies, Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Cisco networking and load balancing.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, storage, backup, disaster recovery, identity and access technologies.
• Ability to work within change control, operational governance and service management processes, while communicating technical risks and decisions clearly.

Nice to have

• AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, container platforms and cloud-based infrastructure patterns.
• Infrastructure as Code, automation, scripting and CI/CD experience, particularly Terraform.
• Security tooling such as SIEM, EDR, PAM and micro-segmentation.
• ITIL, PRINCE2, Agile or Scrum project delivery experience.
