Lead Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia; work from the local office at least 3 days per week

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products, features and engineering initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases and infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions and technical trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Review designs and code, mentor engineers, and strengthen technical capability across the team.
• Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, resolve root causes and continuously improve reliability.

Requirements

• Significant experience building and shipping production software systems.
• Deep expertise in one or more areas including backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for complex or high-scale systems.
• Strong coding ability with willingness to remain hands-on in production systems.
• Experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
• Strong English communication is required; candidates must be based in or able to work from Malaysia.
