Lead Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia; work from the local office at least 3 days per week

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products, features, and engineering initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions and technical trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers, review technical designs and code, and raise engineering standards across the team.
• Work with engineering, product, design, and AI teams to ship products and continuously improve production reliability.

Requirements

• Significant experience building and shipping production software systems.
• Deep expertise in one or more areas including backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design, architecture, coding, debugging, and production operations skills.
• Experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
• Ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes and work effectively with ambiguity.
• Strong English communication is required, and candidates must be based in or able to work from the advertised location.
